E ia ka ʻawa e ke akua, he ʻawa lani wale nō...

This year's hōʻike was done in the ʻaha fashion as we welcomed ala polohiwa a Kanaloa, the winter solstice, at the close of this eventful year.

While a crowd gathered, my Papa Hōpoe and ʻŌlapa presented our hula to the Pele. They were joined by my young learners from Papahana Unuiti, Ka ʻUmeke Kāʻeo Hawaiian Immersion School, who are haumāna also under my tutelage.

As the year has now come to an end, we contemplate the growth, experience, and lessons we have learned as hālau and as individuals. We look forward to the coming year with eager anticipation.
